Our pharmacy provides a FREE Walk-In blood pressure testing service. Our trained staff will do a quick and simple test at any time suitable for you and provide you with the results to take with you.

We will provide you with information on your blood pressure reading, what you can do to help lower your blood pressure and how we can help.

Having high blood pressure greatly increases your risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Recent statistics show that around one in three adults in England and Scotland have high blood pressure. High blood pressure becomes increasingly more common with age in both men and women. It is estimated that in England about one in every three people who have high blood pressure don't know that they have it.

The target for the general population is to have a blood pressure below 140/90mmHg. If you have heart and circulatory disease (for example, if you have coronary heart disease or have had a stroke), or if you have diabetes or chronic kidney disease, the target is below 130/80mmHg.

Our pharmacy operates a FREE prescription collection and delivery service. Simply order your repeat prescription with your surgery and have your medication delivered directly to you. Please order your prescription in plenty of time to ensure you never run out of your medicines! Our delivery service is FREE and is currently offered in Newton Aycliffe.

If you have any unwanted medicines, medicines that you no longer use or out of date medicines please return them to our pharmacy for safe destruction. Medicines will be collected and disposed of safely from our pharmacies. Please let us know if you are returning any controlled drugs or sharps.

The Medicine Use Review is a FREE annual consultation with your pharmacist to discuss how, when and why you take your medicines. This consultation gives you the chance to ask your pharmacist any questions you may have about your medicines and to work with them to make sure you are getting the best from your medicines. It is best for people taking regular medicines and can help us get a better view of how you are using your medicines – both on prescription and those bought over the counter.

Your review will be confidential and will take place in our consultation room with our fully accredited pharmacist. This service is funded by the NHS and can be provided free of charge.

Our highly qualified members of staff are trained to provide advice on these conditions. The Minor Ailment Scheme is available to all people who are currently exempt from prescription charges and best of all – you do not need an appointment!

We can provide treatment for these conditions but also we can provide advice on how to deal with it and when you should contact your GP.

Many people can take a number of different medications at different times of day. We understand how confusing this can be and in our pharmacies we can help make this easier! This service is offered free of charge and can be a helpful way to help manage your medicines.

We can prepare prescriptions into a weekly 'compliance tray', also known as a 'blister pack'. Each blister pack has a row for each day of the week and a column for breakfast time, lunch time, dinner time and bed time. All you need to do is pop out the blister for the right time of that day of the week and take your medication.

If you have been stabilised on a regular medication for a long term medical condition your prescriber may issue your prescription under a service called Repeat Dispensing. If your GP has consented for you to be involved in the repeat dispensing service they will issue you with a signed authorisation prescription form and a number of repeat dispensing issue forms. These will be kept at our pharmacy and your medicines will be collected on a monthly basis.

Our pharmacy offers a full 12 week support programme to help you quit smoking. This service is available in the pharmacy and our fully trained and accredited pharmacy staff will provide one to one support and advice. We can provide access to appropriate stop smoking aids such as Nicotine Replacement Therapy and have a wide knowledge of the products available. Carbon monoxide readings will be measured with every visit to assess your progress. We will work with you and help you get the best from this service.
